My mother and I have been going through her files of family history. Mostly she has done this, but almost every day she brings down some bit of history to share or an image to scan. Recently she said, "A big reason I'm doing this is so that you all can remember what you came from." Well, where we came from would be very difficult to forget, as it has made my siblings and I who we are, and, even better, it's filled with great moments and memories and special experiences.
Despite some very rough spots in the family's history, we've had so much to be thankful for, most especially the knowledge that both of our parents loved each other and us fully. Simplistic as this might sound, it is not a universal experience. A bittersweet thought as I relive some family memories.
